We are very excited to have Edwin “Ted” Truman as our 2026 Mary Lyon Dinner speaker. Ted is an economist who, among other highlights in his career, directed the Division of International Finance at the Federal Reserve System and was appointed by Bill Clinton to be the Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury for International Affairs. Ted has very strong ties to Mount Holyoke and the Pioneer Valley. He attended Amherst, graduating in 1963, and Ted’s father David B. Truman was President of Mount Holyoke from 1969 - 1978. Ted married Mount Holyoke graduate Tracy Truman `63 in 1964. Tracy was an active, enthusiastic supporter of the Mount Holyoke community, and together she and Ted hosted many MHC interns at their home in Chevy Chase, MD.
The Mary Lyon dinner is our premier fundraiser for the Edward R. Murrow scholarship fund. Established in the 1960s, this scholarship continues to be sustained by generous alum contributions.
Even if you’re unable to attend, donations are encouraged, and any contribution beyond the ticket price will go directly to the scholarship fund. Purchasing your tickets, you will see an opportunity to add an extra donation to your cart. Your generosity helps sustain this important tradition of supporting Mount Holyoke students. In addition, you can always donate via our Club website, where you can also pay your dues!
